Michèle Herblin
Artist of emotion,
a contemporary abstract impressionism
BIOGRAPHY
Michèle Herblin comes from Provence, but she feels perfectly Canadian, at home in Quebec for more than 20 years where she loves the magic of winters, wide open spaces and limitless possibilities.
She led her career as an artist in parallel with her activity as an international consultant. His travels around the world, the people he met, the cultures, the landscapes and the lights inspired his art. She is self-taught and claims the freedom she gained from it. Free from reality, perspectives and proportions, she wants to offer a world of emotions and feelings.
Michèle Herblin learned her painting lessons from her numerous visits to museums, from her “encounters” with Monet, Cézanne, Van Gogh and even Picasso and Matisse. His friends from Nice, Armand, César, Sacha Sosno and Téo Tobiasse completed his training during discussions in their workshops in the South of France. But it was the approach of the women of the American abstract expressionist movement that definitively liberated her gesture.

ARTISTIC APPROACH
Michèle Herblin lives with light and the play of colors that speak to the soul. His painting is an invitation to the joy of living, to life stronger than anything and which erases the darkness of bad days.
His technique:
His painting is resolutely Abstract, Impressionist, Open and Positive. “I like the contact with the canvas and the paper, I like the gesture that takes the brush almost where it wants, I play with the colors that I associate or superimpose without mixing. » Michèle Herblin often combines mediums to punctuate her works, acrylic, oil pastels, inks, pencils and felt-tip pens. Her colors speak, “they have a taste and a warmth,” she says, “I let them do their work to deliver impressions.” She often paints quickly after a long reflection on what she wants to communicate. She loves continuing a story on several canvases in a diptych or triptych or reworking her works to extend them and adapt the narrative to the present moment. She favors medium-sized formats but today she is moving more and more towards large-format canvases.
Her dream and why she continues to paint:
“I hope that the gesture and the emotion invite the viewer to enter the painting, to immerse themselves in it and to reinvent the narrative according to their moods” affirms Michèle Herblin. A living art in constant adaptation to the imagination of those who look at it; an art with shared ownership where everyone can recharge their batteries and take what they want, how they want; an art which, although based on a work with finished contours, will never stop escaping from the line or the title and recreating itself according to interpretations.
